Lyrics:

Zài shānshuǐ zhī jiān
在山水之间
Between the mountains and waters
Zài fótǎ zhī jiān
在佛塔之间
Between the Buddhist pagodas
Zài jùsàn zhī jiān
在聚散之间
Between meetings and partings
Zài nǐwǒ zhī jiān
在你我之间
Between you and me
Zài shānshuǐ zhī jiān yǒu yí fèn xìnniàn shì jìngmò wúyán
在山水之间 有一份信念 是静默无言
Between mountains and waters is the faith called silence
Zài fótǎ zhījiān yǒu yì tiáo jīngfān shì wèi nǐ guàqiān
在佛塔之间 有一条经幡 是为你挂牵
Between the Buddhist pagodas is a sutra streamer hung up for you

Zài jùsàn zhī jiān yǒu yì jié sùyuán shì wúcháng shànbiàn
在聚散之间 有一劫宿缘 是无常善变
Between meetings and partings is a fated encounter that’s impermanent
Zài nǐ wǒ zhī jiān yǒu yì lǚ sīniàn shì hún rào mèng qiān
在你我之间 有一缕思念 是魂绕梦牵
Between you and me is a wisp of longing that’s living in my dreams
Zài shānshuǐ zhī jiān yǒu yí fèn xìnniàn shì jìng mò wú yán
在山水之间 有一份信念 是静默无言
Between the mountains and waters is the faith called silence
Zài fótǎ zhījiān yǒu yì tiáo jīngfān shì wèi nǐ guàqiān
在佛塔之间 有一条经幡 是为你挂牵
Between the Buddhist pagodas is a sutra streamer hung up for you
Zài jùsàn zhī jiān yǒu yì jié sùyuán shì wúcháng shànbiàn
在聚散之间 有一劫宿缘 是无常善变
Through meetings and partings is a fated encounter that’s impermanent
Zài nǐ wǒ zhī jiān yǒu yì lǚ sīniàn shì hún rào mèng qiān
在你我之间 有一缕思念 是魂绕梦牵
Between you and me is a wisp of longing that’s living in my dreams
Cǐ shēng shànglù nǎ pà tiānjué-dìchuān
此生 上路 哪怕天绝地穿
In this life, I hit the road, through the heavens fall
Zhī yuàn tú zhōng néng zài yǔ nǐ xiàngjiàn
只愿 途中 能再与你 相见
I only wish to meet you again somewhere along the way

Ong ba ni bei miao ong que(repeat)
嗡嘛呢呗嚒哄舍 (repeat)
Om Mani Padme Hung Hri (repeat)

Notes:

1. This song uses the Nyingma version of the mantra of compassion, or the six syllabled mantra of Avalokiteshvara: “Om Mani Padme Hung.” This mantra of compassion is the primary mantra that has been used in Tibetan prayer wheels since the 7th Century:

a. “Om” has various meanings. Here it can be interpreted as “to praise;”
b. “Mani” literally means “changeable jewels.” Here it refers to fickle human nature;
c. “Padme” literally means “red lotus.” Here it refers to the unpolluted nature of mind;
d. “Hung” has various meanings. Here it can be interpreted as “reaching an epiphany through numerous obstacles and returning to one’s original nature.”

The mantra of “Om Mani Padme Hung” can not really be translated into a simple phrase or even a few sentences. A tentative synthesis could be: “I’m willing to be converted by you, Avalolkiteshvara. I wish to retain under your guidance the unpolluted nature of mind, and to achieve my goals through epiphanies of Truth.”

2. Faye Wong, her Chinese name is 王菲. She is an influential Chinese singer-songwriter and actress who is usually referred to as a diva. Let's learn her Chinese song: Wish(愿yuàn).
