Today let's take a brief introduction of a famous Chinese movie named "Ip Man".Ip Man, a kung fu movie directed by Wilson Yip, mainly tells the story of the great martial arts master Ip Man, his fervor and passion on the martial arts Wing Chun in the 1930s. Starring Donnie Yen and Sammo Hung, the film won the Best Picture award at the 28th Hong Kong Film Awards on April 19, 2009.

A very important clue in Ip Man is the fights between Ip Man and the Japanese invaders. In the film, plots like Ip Man alone defeated ten Japanese martial artists from a martial club and he beat General Miura despite his personal safety would definitely stir up the patriotism of the general audience. Heart-stirring plots in films like Fist of Legend, Fearless (Huo Yuanjia) etc have also reflected in Ip Man.
Though Donnie Yen had never practiced Wing Chun Kuen before, his understanding to it was really amazing. Trained by Sammo Hung, Donnie Yen has presented on the big screen the power of Wing Chun Kuen with his swift, fierce and unrestrained movements. His quick punches within a second bring great enjoyment to the audience. Thanks to the excellent fighting scenes, Ip Man was acclaimed as “this year’s best Chinese kung fu movie.”
In the film, Ip is a good guy. He loves his wife, his child, his friends, his hometown and his country, and in the mean time hates bandits, Japanese invaders, and all those without conscience. Once he determines to do something, he will march forward courageously, despite the danger of losing his own life. As in Ip’s heart, some things are more precious than life, such as the dignity of a person and a country. In fact, each time Ip starts fighting, he fights for his dignity. And fighting for dignity is fighting for the martial arts ethics in his mind – starting with benevolence, and considering others in his own place. As an actor, Donnie Yen has successfully brought out the calm, restrained and refined temperament of Ip Man, displaying his masculine charm to a full extent.

Ip Man 叶问 Yè Wèn: (1 October 1893 – 2 December 1972), also spelled as YIp Man, and also known as Yip Kai-man, was a Chinese martial artist. He had several students who later became martial arts teachers in their own right, including Bruce Lee.
