Lyrics

Dāng wǒ zǒu zài zhèlǐ de měi yì tiáo jiēdào
When I walk on each of these streets
Wǒ de xīn sìhū cónglái dōu bù néng píngjìng
My heart never seems to be at peace
Apart from roaring of the engines and sounds of the electric
I seem to hear its candlewick heartbeat

CHORUS
Wǒ zài zhèlǐ huānxiào
Here I laughed
Wǒ zài zhèlǐ kūqì
Here I cried
Wǒ zài zhèlǐ huózhe
Here I’ve lived
Yě zài zhèlǐ sǐ qù
and here I’ll die
Wǒ zài zhèlǐ qídǎo
Here I prayed
Wǒ zài zhèlǐ míwǎng
Here I’ve felt lost
Wǒ zài zhèlǐ xúnzhǎo
Here I sought
Yě zài zhèlǐ shīqù
and here I’ve lost
Běijīng Běijīng
Beijing Beijing

Kāfēiguǎn yǔ guǎngchǎng yǒu sān gè jiēqū
The coffee house is three blocks away from the square
Jiù xiàng níhóngdēng dào yuèliàng de jùlí
just like the distance between the neon and the moon
Rénmen zài zhèngzhā zhōng hùxiàng gàowèi hé yōngbào
In the midst of their struggles, people comfort and hug each other
Xúnzhǎo zhe zhuīzhú zhe yǎnyǎn-yìxī de suìmèng
Searching and chasing, grasping at shattered dreams

CHORUS
Rúguǒ yǒu yì tiān wǒ bù de bù líqù
If one day I have to leave
Wǒ xīwàng rén men bǎ wǒ mái zài zhèlǐ
I hope people will bury me here
Zài zhè'ér wǒ néng gǎnjué dào wǒ de cúnzài
Here, I can feel my existence
Zài zhè yǒu tài duō ràng wǒ juànliàn de dōngxī
Here, there are too many things that I long for

CHORUS
