This art-house film written and directed by Wong Kar-wai tells about love affairs between six local young people in Hong Kong. It boasts an impressive cast including Leslie Cheung, Maggie Cheung, Carina Lau, Jacky Cheung and Andy Lau.

The nostalgic picture was the first work in which Wong collaborated with cinematographer Christopher Doyle. It established the moody visual style for Wong's later works. Since then, Wong has worked with Doyle on eight films.

The film garnered a few heavyweight awards such as the best leading actor, best director and best picture at 10th Hong Kong Film Awards in 1991. It often tops Hong Kong film critics' lists of best local productions.
