Visiting the Grave
Entering December, visiting the grave and offering sacrifices to the deceased has become a hot topic.

In Shanghai, there are 44 commercial cemeteries and 10 public ones. By October 2010, there were 1,250,000 graves in the city. It is predicted that around the Winter Solstice this year, there will be 2,250,000 visitors and 200 thousand cars visiting the cemeteries. The peak of this traffic is expected to come on December 18, 19 and 22 (the Winter Solstice). In these three days, the main roads to the cemeteries will be blocked from 8am to 11am.

To solve the problems of this congestion, the cemeteries will take effective measures to eliminate the hidden troubles of safety. To reduce the traffic pressure and facilitate the visiting of the citizens, 14 cemeteries will open short-distance buses. Visitors can consult the relevant cemeteries about that.

In addition, the safety problems have been concerning. The service center of every cemetery will take measures to control the scope of the visitors and dredge the flow of traffic and pedestrians to avoid accidents such as stampedes or fire.
