The Shanghai International Film Festival
The Shanghai International Film Festival (上海国际电影节 Shanghai Guoji Dianyingjie) is the first intenational film festival, which is approved by the State Council 国务院of the People's Republic of China. The Shanghai International Film Festival is a non-specialized competitive film festival and a Class A international film festival accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (国际电影制片人协会 guójì diànyǐng zhìpiànrén xiéhuì).
It sponsored by the state administration of radio, film and television and the Shanghai municipal government, Shanghai international film festival organization committee to undertake. The Shanghai international film festival was initiated in 1993, with the purpose of promoting mutual understanding and ties among countries and regions worldwide, enhancing the film art and boosting the development of film industry. It is held once every year since the fifth festival.The festival has its own special organizing committee, which is in charge of the preparation and organizing work.
The festival comprises four major activities, namely the appraisal of the Golden Goblet Award (金爵奖 jīnjué Jiǎng), the international film exhibition, international trade fair of films and TV programs, and the international film academic seminar. The festival originally established four Golden Goblet Awards and one Jury Special Award, and added a Hennessy Cup Best Innovation Film Award from the second festival on.
