Evaluation

“敬亭山”在今天安徽省宣城县的北面。李白一生到这里游历过七次。
Mount Jingting sits to the north of Xuancheng County in Anhui Province, and Li Bai had traveled there seven times in his life.

天上的鸟群高高地飞向远方，消失得无影无踪，孤独白云也悠然地越飘越远。谁才能与我做伴，相对而坐，永无厌倦？只有这座静穆的敬亭山。
The birds in the sky fly high to the distance and disappear completely, and the lonely clouds float leisurely farther and farther away as well. Who can accompany me, sit facing me and never feel tired? There is no one but this solemn and silent Mount Jingting.

这首诗好象是写景，实际上是诗人有感而发。他抱有远大志向、才华横溢，但饱尝了人间辛酸，看透了世态炎凉，不由得产生了孤独寂寞的心情。
It seems that the poem is about the scenery. In fact, the poet depicts his deepest feelings through the scene. He has great ambition and talents, but too much bitterness of life has buried them. As snobbery is the way of the world, he feels quite lonely.
