差一点儿没及格：Almost did not pass

Story

Ménɡménɡ：yéye ，lǎoshīshuō" chàyìdiǎn méi yān sǐ" hé" chàyìdiǎn yān sǐle " shìyíɡèyìsi ，zhēn de mɑ？
萌萌：爷爷，老师说“差一点没淹死”和“差一点淹死了”是一个意思，真的吗？
Méng meng: Grandpa, our teacher told us that “almost did not drown” has the same meaning as “nearly drowned.” Is that true?

Yéye ：duìā，dōushìméi yān sǐde yìsi 。
爷爷：对啊，都是没淹死的意思。

1. 差一点

“差一点”表示某件事情接近实现或勉强实现。Chàyìdiǎn " biǎo shìmǒujiàn shìqínɡjiējìn shíxiàn huòmiánqiǎnɡshíxiàn 。
“差一点” means that something very nearly happened.

Sentences:

⑴ Chà yì dián'r kǎole mǎnfēn 。

You almost hit me.

2．差一点没

“差一点没” 希望发生某事= 某事成功" Chà yì diǎn méi " xī wànɡ fā shēnɡ mǒushì = mǒu shì chénɡɡōnɡ

“差一点没” 不希望发生某事= 某事没发生"Chà yì diǎn méi " bù xī wànɡ fā shēnɡ mǒushì = mǒushì méi fāshēnɡ

 

“差一点没” something good = good thing happened

“差一点没” something bad = bad thing avoided

Sentences:

⑴ Tā chà yì diǎn méi mǎi dào
他差一点没买到。
He was lucky to have bought it.

⑵ Tā chà yì diǎn méi jíɡé 。
他差一点没及格。
He’s lucky to pass the examination.

3.及格

“及格”表示达到最低的标准。100分的卷子60分算及格。Gíɡé" biǎo shì dádào zuì dī de biāozhǔn 。100 fēn de juànzi 60 fēn suàn jíɡé。
“及格” means to meet minimum standards. If a full score is 100, then 60 would be the passing grade.
