Explanation

“不至于” 表示不可能达到某种地步,不会达到某种程度。当说话人觉得对方所说的情况过分夸张、严重的时候，会用这句话安慰对方、或者反驳某种观点。
“不至于(bú zhìyú)” indicates that it is not that serious and it won’t reach to such a plight or level. When the speaker feels that what the other side said is too exaggerative and serious, he would comfort the other side with this phrase. Sometimes the speaker also use “不至于” to deny a certain opinion.
