打圆场 (dǎ yuán chǎng)  mediate a dispute; ease a situation

“打圆场”是指从善意的角度出发，调解矛盾，缓和紧张气氛的行为。
“打圆场”refers to mediate a dispute from a well-meaning perspective.

Sentences:

1、Jīntiān duōkuī tā dǎyuánchǎng, bùrán kěndìng dǎqǐlaile.
今天多亏他打圆场，不然肯定打起来了。
They would fight violently thanks to his mediating.

2、Yǎnkàn tāliǎ jiùyào chǎoqǐlaile, Xiǎo Wáng gǎnjǐn dǎyuánchǎng jiào dàjiā yìqi qù chīfàn, cái bìmiǎn le zhēngchǎo.
眼看他俩就要吵起来了，小王赶紧打圆场叫大家一起去吃饭，才避免了争吵。
Xiao Wang asked everyone to go to eat quickly when they were going to quarrel which was avoided.
