White Dew Wine

For some Nanjing people whose hometowns are Zhejiang Province or the southern part of Jiangsu Province, it is a tradition to make White Dew Wine in the White Dew season. In the past, country people in the Jiangsu and Zhejiang regions all made wine and entertained guests with it. They also often brought this wine to cities.

White Dew Wine is made of cereals such as polished glutinous rice and kaoliang. It tastes a little sweet and is called White Dew Rice Wine. One competitive kind among White Dew wines is “Cheng Wine.” It’s so called that because it is made with water fetched from Chengjiang River. In ancient times, Cheng Wine was used and well known as a tribute wine.
