Consideration for others
The Chinese people like to help others, and taking the time to help others is considered a great virtue. At work, if one colleague faces some troubles, coworkers will help him come up with some solutions. In the neighborhood when kids come home from school, if their parents are not back home yet, they can do their homework and eat meals in their neighbors' houses.
Unlike most Westerners, providing help, care, and sympathy to others is based on if they are willing to accept. Here is an example: A Chinese student in the United States saw an old professor stumbling on a busy road, out of sympathy, he approached to him and offered to help. However, the professor didn't seem to appreciate his help, because he thought he was not so old that he needed other's help.
