When stepping into the main exhibition hall of the Museum of the Terra-Cotta Warriors and Horses of Qin Shihuang, gazing upon row after row of gray warriors and horses in the pit, time seems to freeze. It’s almost if you’ve been cast back in time to the world of more than 2,000 years ago. In the No.1 Pit, the museum’s largest, you can see more than 6,000 terra-cotta warriors standing solemnly. The terra-cotta warriors are neatly arranged in military formation: In the front are three rows of 210 warriors holding crossbows, followed by infantry and chariot soldiers. On both sides and in the last row are three rows of warriors with crossbows in their hands, facing outwards. In No.2 Pit are 89 chariots, 356 terra-cotta horses dragging the chariots, more than 900 soldiers and 116 horses.

The lines of warriors seem to have brought people to the ancient and quiet eternal world. But even in their frozen state, people can still feel the forceful impetus of the Qin army.

The terra-cotta warriors and horses, on the one hand, show the vigor of the Qin Dynasty; on the other hand, the dynasty also wasted unimaginable human, finance and material resources to construct the army. These warriors and horses are solid evidence of the tyranny of the Qin Dynasty.
