Shaoxing (绍兴Shàoxīng) is a prefecture-level city in northeastern Zhejiang province, People's Republic of China. Lying on the south bank of the Qiantang River(钱塘江 Qiántánɡ jiānɡ ) mouth, it borders Ningbo to the east, Taizhou to the southeast, Jinhua to the southwest, and Hangzhou to the west.
Located in the northern part of Zhejiang Province, Shaoxing is a famous historical and cultural city listed by the state. Belonging to the subtropical zone with monsoon climate, the annual average temperature of the city is 16C and the annual average precipitation ranges from 1,200--1,600 mm. Shaoxing City is a typical waterways region and the numerous rivers, canals and bridges are part of the city charm.
