In many private markets in China you can bargain when shopping. Some consider this as a fun part of shopping but there are some techniques to it. Here are some tips for your reference:

Firstly, don't show your strong desire for the products in front of the sellers. Pretend that you are just strolling by and checking out what's been offered. After some comparison of different offers you will know where to get the ideal bargain.

Secondly, it would help you cut the price if you point out something wrong with the product. Nothing is perfect. When the seller tries to sell you all the good things about the products you tell him/her the deficiencies.

Obviously those said above are suitable only for the private markets. In the standard shops and supermarkets products are sold at set prices. You shouldn't bargain in these places just as in other western countries.
