In traditional China, a family is headed by the elders, either the parents or grandparents. Sons and daughters come next. In most families, children are the very core. Once a child is born, every family member's attention turns to the newest one. Some children even become the "little emperors" of their families, which means that children today are taking up the position that was once occupied by the elders. Meanwhile, relations between husband and wife seem to be less important today.
